NEVER BE DISHEARTENED...!

DON’T QUIT: A Message to the Tireless Dreamers of CSE 2025

By Dr Sunil S Rana

"When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill...
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit."

Edgar Albert Guest

These words aren’t just poetry; they’re power.
They breathe strength into the weary, hope into the broken, and light into the dark tunnels of doubt.
To every Civil Services aspirant who faced the storm of CSE Prelims 2025 and now stands at a crossroad of anxiety and hope; this is for you.

The Essence of Perseverance

As the Hindi proverb wisely says:

"Karat Karat Abhyaas Ke, Jadmat Hot Sujaan,
Rassi Aawat Jaat Te, Sil Par Parat Nisaan."

Even the dullest can gain wisdom through consistent effort; even a soft rope leaves marks on stone through repetition.
Let that be your story; not of defeat, but of unyielding persistence.

A Test Beyond the Test

This examination is more than a test of knowledge.
It is a test of:

  • Resilience,
  • Composure under uncertainty,
  • and unwavering inner strength.

Yes, the paper was tough. Yes, the questions were unexpected. But remember the maxim:

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

Let this adversity be your launchpad, not your end point.

Divine Wisdom from the Gita

The Bhagavad Gita teaches:

“Karmanye vadhikaraste, Ma phaleshou kadachana”
(Do your duty without attachment to results.)

This is not spiritual escapism. It’s a call to focus on the process, to work with devotion and passion; leaving the outcomes to time, karma, and fate.

Stories That Never Quit

  • Thomas Edison failed 1,000+ times before inventing the light bulb.
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work,” he said.
  • Abraham Lincoln lost multiple elections before becoming a historic President.
  • J.K. Rowling was rejected by 12 publishers before Harry Potter was born.

“Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.”

Edgar Guest

What made them unforgettable?
They didn’t quit.

Dear Aspirant: This Too Shall Pass

If you’re feeling low, unsure, or defeated; breathe.

Your dedication, discipline, and sacrifices are not wasted.
Every moment you spent studying has made you stronger, wiser, and more capable.

“The darkest hour is just before the dawn.”
“Fall seven times, stand up eight.” - Japanese Proverb

You are allowed to pause. But not to give up.
You didn’t come this far to stop halfway.

A Matter of Perspective

Life sometimes hides its biggest blessings behind temporary setbacks.
Perhaps this isn’t a dead-end; it’s a redirection to something even better.

“Every cloud has a silver lining.”

This is your training ground. Your real test is to rise; again and again.

Stand Tall, March On

“Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”
-Swami Vivekananda

There is no shame in not clearing one attempt.
But there is immense pride in standing up after every fall.

You have the grit, the spirit, and the potential.
Just hold on.

“Stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”

In Closing: The Victory Is Still Yours

Take a break. Reflect. Regroup.
But don’t hang your boots.

“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” - Confucius

Let this setback sharpen you, not shatter you.
Let this experience humble you, not hinder you.

Your story is still being written.
And every great story begins with a turning point.

DON’T QUIT.
